The Best of Brooklyn
Half-Day Food and Culture Tour
-Combination Bus & Walking Tour-
Start the tour with a brief drive through, and learn the history of, Greenwich Village. Get great views of the famous Washington Square Park where, in 1961, a 19 year old Bob Dylan strummed his guitar strings for the first time in NYC.
Follow the trail of NYC's immigrant groups from their beginnings on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and then cross over the Williamsburg Bridge to see where they've settled. See gorgeous views of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Once in Brooklyn, observe the Hasidic (pious ones) Jewish Population in their cultural enclave and take note of their traditional style of dress.
Learn about the two faces of Williamsburg: One, an orthodox religious community that has survived persecution in Eastern Europe to make a home in Brooklyn, and hear all about North Williamsburg which is encountering an invasion of youthful & artistic hipsters who are reviving this food focused area.
Taste your way through North Williamsburg, gaining insight into the genesis of the multicultural food revolution that inspired the world-famous Smorgasburg at two favorite neighborhood eateries, featuring the best Hipster and Middle Eastern Streetfood.
Visit Greenpoint, featuring one of largest Polish populations in the United States, and enjoy a sit down meal (or a 'King's Feast') at favorite neighborhood eatery, featuring the best kielbasa sausage, pierogies and more.
Next up, take a scenic drive past the beautiful Prospect Park and trendy Park Slope, arriving at our favorite Brooklyn Pizza place. Watch your Pizzaiolo prepare and bake delicious brick oven Neapolitan Pizza. Finish off the Italian tasting portion of the tour with a Cannoli in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood.
Explore DUMBO and learn why New Yorkers keep renaming their neighborhoods. Taste chocolate bonbons of your choice from the famous Mr. Chocolate at the Jacques Torres Chocolate Shop. Visit Brooklyn Bridge Park for an excellent view of Manhattan's famous skyline including amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Though we will drive to get from one neighborhood to the next, you'll have time to walk around and take pictures in each area where we stop.
