Food & Farm Tour
Hudson Valley

A DAY TRIP

FARM TO TABLE

A Farm-to-Table exploration to taste the best of the Hudson Valley

New York is so much more than the city. Just 60 miles to the north is another world of farms, cideries, artisan food markets and restaurants. These delicious spots are taking full advantage of the area’s bounty and producing amazing food and drink, making the Hudson Valley the perfect food-lovers day-trip from the Big Apple.

Meet your guide in the historic river town of Beacon, NY. There, on the bank of the Hudson, you’ll learn the history of the mighty river. Together we’ll travel, by bus, into town to watch (and enjoy) decadent donuts being custom-created (from your design!). We’ll visit a vibrant community Farmers Market and learn about the benefits to farmer and consumer as you taste delicious fig & rosemary goat cheese from a husband & wife run micro-dairy. Taste locally sourced, seasonal, hand-crafted soda syrups at a do-good company called More Good. Then, we’ll cross the River to enjoy a farm-fresh feast from a family-operated organic farm known for supplying seasonal ingredients to a long list of NYC’s top restaurants. From there, we’ll tell you tales of the famous Black Dirt farm region, see the soil, and learn about an organization helping young and diverse farmers find affordable land access. Next, meet the Apple farmer at a 100+ year old 4th generation orchard. Shop your heart out in their quintessential red barn style indoor Farm Market as we sample specialty products from the region. Enjoy a flight of locally-produced, small-batch hard cider in a rustic setting.

Finish the day in historic downtown Newburgh to visit a restaurant voted ‘Best Restaurant in the Hudson Valley’ and enjoy a dish created by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef that reflects the bounty of the area. View the grounds of George Washington’s longest-running Revolutionary War Headquarters and some incredible Street Art inspired by that history. We’ll have you back at the Beacon Station (parking is free on weekends) in time for your train to NYC or car trip home. Like to stay for the weekend? Reach out for B&B recommendations!
