Avocado + anything is tasty, but Tacombi takes it to a new level. Try Tacombi’s ceviche tostadas recipe at home or on our Nolita/ Noho tour!
Ceviche, while famously originating from Peru, has found a beloved place in the culinary traditions of Mexico’s coastal regions, albeit with its own unique twist. The Peruvian version is known for its robust chunks of fish, a generous squeeze of lime, and typically comes paired with sweet potatoes. This combination not only delights the palate but also sops up the exquisite ‘leche de tigre’, a marinade revered for its ability to cure hangovers, consisting of lime and fish juices.
In contrast, the Mexican iteration of ceviche tends toward a less juicy finish, with the fish often appearing finely minced or shredded. This particular preparation is essential for pairing with tostadas – those crunchy, deep-fried corn tortillas that demand a drier topping to preserve their signature crunch.
Breaking apart under the weight of the ceviche is part of the experience, and there’s no shame in following the Mexican tradition of using the broken pieces or even your fingers to savor every last bit.
Offering a light and vibrant start to a summer barbecue, this recipe promises a burst of sunny Mexican flavors, perfect for brightening up even the rainiest days.
