Meet Mario (owner of Caffe Dante on our Central Village/ Soho Tour) and his son Anthony.

MUST EAT ITEM: The first thing out of Mario’s mouth when asked what he would choose if he could only have one item from his shop for the rest of his life, was their homemade tiramisu! Praise also goes to the homemade Italian cheesecake. I took Anthony’s suggestions and took home the string bean and potato salad, which was amazing! This is going to become a new habit for me… along with the tuna sandwich with roasted peppers and bufala mozzarella on ciabatta bread.

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW: Caffe Dante opened in 1915, but that doesn’t mean they don’t keep up with food trends. They recently added eggplant “meat” balls, meatballs made out of eggplant instead of meat, and innovative alternative to the carnivorous option.
