In her over 12 years with Foods of New York tours, tour guide Cindy has seen a lot of things in the Village. Trust us, the Village is the place to see everything–from the serene to the stupendous!

Here are her top 5–very economical–must-see sites in downtown NYC for the holidays!

1. The Hudson River Waterfront in the late afternoon when sun is getting ready to set, sit on a bench or stroll along it for view and people watching.

2. Sitting on a bench in Washington Square Park opposite the “Pigeon Man” on his bench with all the pigeons on him etc.

 3. Going to 21st street and 1st avenue and counting how many other smart patrons besides one self enter Ess-a-Bagel, for it’s one of NYC’s best kept secrets from tourists as to the best bagel in New York.

4. Sit in “Father Demo Square” and check out the variety of ways people try to eat Joe’s Pizza–and then guess whose another tourist by the way they go about it.

5. Walk for free to Russ and Daughter’s and then enter, ask for the best lox to put on a bagel with cream cheese and compare it to Ess-a-Bagel and you’d be hard press to choose which is better!
